Foster Update:  Gonzalo came to us as a foster after living his first 13 months (his entire life) at Cortez Rescue. He wasn’t potty trained. He wasn’t used to being in the house and the first couple of weeks were a little rough, but he is a very smart boy and caught on quickly. 

He’s been with us for nearly 2 months now and he is matured into such a loving, great dog. He’s fully housebroken, sits while we prepare his food and waits to be released before he eats. He is a morning dog meaning he’s not the kind of dog who’s going to sleep in till 10 o’clock. He likes to get up early and expects that you should too. :o)

Gonzalo looks a little intimidating, but he is the most loving, gentle boy. He’s a big softy. He can be very talkative when playing and incredibly gentle with our very small dog. He really likes the water. He loves to go and sit on the step of our pool and play in the water at the beach. He’s also very good with bath time. 

Gonzalo really needs to find his forever home. He has a bit of a prey drive so no cats, but he gets along with most other dogs. I think he would love a family with older kids (over 8) or an active outdoorsy adult companion. We will be very sad to see Gonzalo go, but we know at the same time that he’s going to make a family very, very happy.

Before leaving Cortez Rescue, all dogs will be given a full medical assessment to ensure optimum health, current on vaccinations, and desexed. All dogs are microchipped before leaving Mexico.
