Foster Update: Kasper is very sweet, cuddly, friendly and has a good balance of calm & playful. He is overall such a great pup & we love having him! We’re so amazed at how calm he is for such a young pup.
He bonded with our dog within the first 24 hours, and they love to play together. They have become good buddies, I think he would enjoy going to a home with another friendly dog companion if possible. He is a little timid of our cats, but also curious around them and usually just ignores them. He likes and is comfortable with both me and my husband. When we take him out, he stays close. He can be weary of other dogs at first until they get closer & he can say hi to them. He does very well in new environments and warms up quickly with visitors.
Kasper is food motivated. He loves the Kong filled with peanut butter or yogurt & I freeze it so it lasts longer. He likes going for walks & hikes but doesn't seem to need super long walks or runs. He really only needs low to medium exercise. He is crate and potty trained, has 'come' & 'sit' commands down. We’re still working on barking less when he is outside. He has no noticeable prey drive.
A video was posted on social media about a litter of puppies that had been seen in bushes under a bridge, the person who went to feed them told CR about it. A volunteer from CR went the next day and found them hiding in the bushes. Some of them were in a very deteriorated physical state.
Before leaving Cortez Rescue, all dogs will be given a full medical assessment to ensure optimum health, current on vaccinations, and spayed/neutered. All dogs are microchipped before leaving Mexico.
