This red beauty is one heck of an athlete and absolutely loves to fetch balls. She is working on her leash skills, steadily demonstrating improvement. Canela is really a sweet girl and enjoys affection, especially butt scratches. She is also happy just chilling out with you.
Canela has made great progress at the rescue and likes to play with select other dogs (prefers submissive males). She is most definitely not a fan of cats. This girl would be an amazing running or hiking companion as she is lean and loves to go!
Known History: Sadly this beautiful girl was used as a guard dog and spent 2 years on a short chain with no attention.
Health: 03/22/24 Canela had surgery to remove the plate in her leg (from an old fracture) as it was causing some pain. She has a slight limp but it does not slow her down one bit.
Before leaving Cortez Rescue, all dogs will be given a full medical assessment to ensure optimum health, current on vaccinations, and spayed/neutered. All dogs are micro-chipped before leaving Mexico.
