Canela’s journey hasn’t been an easy one, but her transformation has been extraordinary. After arriving at Cortez Rescue scared, underweight, and unsure of the world, she received the care and compassion she’d been missing. Today, she’s a completely different dog—confident, loving, and eager for a home to call her own.
This beautiful red girl recently graduated from a professional dog school in Cabo, where she impressed everyone she met.
Her trainers report that she:
Knows all basic obedience cues (sit, down, stay, come)
Is kennel trained, potty trained, and off-leash trained
Is social, sweet, and interacts well with large groups of dogs
Needs a home without cats
Does best with no other female dogs, but can do well with select males
Canela loves movement and benefits from regular exercise—about 40 minutes a day is perfect for her. She’s affectionate, intelligent, and happiest when she’s bonding with her person.
After everything she’s endured, Canela is more than ready for stability, love, and a soft place to land. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who’s already trained and eager to be part of your life, Canela may be your perfect match.
Canela has waited long enough. Let’s help her find the loving home she truly deserves.
History: Sadly this beautiful girl was used as a guard dog and spent 2 years on a short chain with no attention.
Health: 03/22/24 Canela had surgery to remove the plate in her leg (from an old fracture) as it was causing some pain. She has a slight limp but it does not slow her down one bit.
Before leaving Cortez Rescue, all dogs will be given a full medical assessment to ensure optimum health, current on vaccinations, and spayed/neutered. All dogs are micro-chipped before leaving Mexico.
