Dumplin’s story is heartbreaking — but it’s finally turning toward hope.

This young girl was dumped along the highway across from the Barrels and spent nearly a week hiding under a chicken shack, terrified and unsure where to go. When a local reached out for help, Patrick and I went to find her… and discovered a frightened pup who wanted nothing more than to feel safe.

Fast forward, and Dumplin has blossomed into an absolutely incredible companion in her temporary foster home. Her foster family can’t stop singing her praises:

✨ She doesn’t chew, dig, or bark — unless there’s something truly serious.
✨ Amazing on leash and easy to walk anywhere.
✨ Crate trained and sleeps peacefully through the night.
✨ Smart, eager to please, and learns quickly.
✨ A total cuddlebug who comes in close making the funniest, sweetest little vocal noises — like she’s saying, “Where have you been? I missed you!”

Her foster says it plainly:
“She is the easiest dog we have EVER fostered.”

Before leaving Cortez Rescue, all dogs will be given a full medical assessment to ensure optimum health, current on vaccinations, and spayed/neutered. All dogs are micro-chipped before leaving Mexico.
