2/21: weight is 48.5 lbs

Foster Update: Kira is such a gem. She has been absolutely amazing! We took her out for 2 car rides and 2 walks, went for lunch and dinner with her and she was a star! She was so well behaved. We took Kira on a quad ride this afternoon and she was a queen. I was unsure if she enjoyed the ride but when we disembarked, she tried to climb back on to the quad so I think she had a good time. She was well secured on a dog friendly quad and I drove like a granny lol. She had a little wash, which she wasn’t crazy about but she was a good sport. Kira settled on her bed for the night and we are loving that she’s here with us. Her snorting is adorable and she’s so well behaved although she does pull on the lead. Kira is very interested in meeting other dogs but we’ve kept her close and will enjoy loving her up for the week.

Kira, our little pitopotomus, (as we call her), will make you smile every time you look her and she is quite entertaining too! Kira is full of happy, happy. She loves everyone and can't get enough attention. She is so happy to be off the 3-foot chain she was attached to in the corner of a parking lot for who knows how long. All we know is that she was well fed and came to us quite obese. Kira has already lost 5lbs since coming to the rescue and her waist line is showing. This girl can run and she loves it too! She really likes walks but leash skills are not her thing at this point as she just wants to go.

She shows interest in other dogs and seems to want a friend to play with but need to find her the right one because she is an in-your-face kinda girl. With proper introductions we are confident she could find that friend.

From Kira's last Foster: Kira is very loving and sweet; not a mean bone in her body. She thinks she's a lap dog. She is great in the car. She insists on her daily walks. Kira is very excited to see other dogs on her walks but we were reluctant to have a face-to-face meet as we weren't sure how she would respond. We had one encounter at a bakery where Kira was next to other dogs and we had no issues.

From a previous Foster: I have had a limited, wonderful time fostering Kira. I am optimistic & hopeful that in a structured meet & greet, she would be friendly and playful, not aggressive. We had dog encounter tonight. Kira walked in that direction of the dog. The other party stopped with their dog until I could get to Kira. I held her while they walked by. Kira struggled to get out of the embrace but her tail was wagging the whole time.

Before leaving Cortez Rescue, Kira will be given a full medical assessment to insure she remains in optimum health. Please go to cortezrescue.org for further details about adoption fees and any possible transportation costs/issues or call with any further questions you may have about this this lovable and delightful dog. She currently lives in Baja near Cabo San Lucas.
