Our Pup-Ups give families a relaxed setting to interact with dogs outside of the shelter environment. Because the atmosphere feels casual and welcoming, meaningful connections happen naturally. Many of our adoptions begin during these Saturday mornings.
Meanwhile, our Outreach booth at the market offers information about fostering, volunteering, and current rescue efforts. Visitors can learn how we rehabilitate and rehome dogs across the East Cape. In addition, Cortez Rescue merchandise is available for purchase. Every sale directly supports veterinary care, vaccinations, emergency treatment, and daily supplies.

We’re taking rescue to the streets — and it’s going to be a blast.
Look for the balloons and signs, then swing by our Cortez Rescue StreetSide Pup Up for free coffee, doughnut bites, and the best part… real rescue dogs ready for pets, photos, and mini-walks. This fun, welcoming community event is all about raising awareness for dog rescue in Baja California Sur while giving our pups positive social time outside the rescue.
Our previous StreetSide Pup Ups have been a huge success — packed with smiles, tail wags, and incredible community support. Locals and visitors alike have stopped by to meet adoptable dogs, learn more about Cortez Rescue, and simply enjoy a lighthearted morning surrounded by good people and good dogs. The response has been overwhelming in the best way — and we can’t wait to do it again.

Dorado Shootout 50/50 Raffle returns July 18, 2026, in the East Cape. Cortez Rescue proudly joins the annual Van Wormer Resorts Dorado Shootout to raise funds for local rescue dogs.
This tournament draws anglers, families, and visitors from across the region. The docks fill early. The competition runs strong. The energy carries through the entire community.
Cortez Rescue brings purpose to the shoreline. We host our annual 50/50 raffle during the event. One winner takes home half of the total pot. The remaining funds support rescue dogs across Baja California Sur.
Your ticket helps cover veterinary visits, emergency surgeries, vaccinations, and spay and neuter services. It also helps provide food, foster support, and rehabilitation for dogs preparing for adoption.

This tournament celebrates women in sport fishing. It also brings the community together around purpose and impact. The docks fill early. Teams compete with skill and determination. Spectators gather to support their favorites.

As part of our Valentine’s Pup-Date Overnight, Frodo was chosen by a wonderful couple, Dawn and Andy, for a special sleepover — and he absolutely thrived.
At just 6 months old, Frodo proved himself to be the perfect house guest. Dawn and Andy described their weekend as “the most amazing,” sharing that Frodo was affectionate, well-mannered, and incredibly easy to have in their home.
During his overnight adventure, Frodo enjoyed long beach walks, plenty of snuggles and kisses, a dinner outing, and a cozy evening of TV. He is fully house trained, walks beautifully on leash, rides happily in a side-by-side, loves a good game of fetch, and is relaxed and friendly with other dogs.
Dawn and Andy are returning to the UK and told us they would have “snapped him up for keeps” if they were staying. ❤️
Experiences like this show exactly why our Pup-Date program matters. Not only do our dogs get a valuable break from rescue life, they also gain important real-world experience that helps them transition smoothly into forever homes.
