Hello! My name is Montana! I'm currently in Baja, Mexico but I'm ready to fly to you!!

Hi, I'm Montana. My previous owner probably couldn't care for me so I was dump in a small Mexican town. I was very skinny and limping on my old broken leg. Some lovely ladies found and invited me for a ride. I love car rides! A big storm came and I got to stay with a very nice lady. She had 5 other dogs and I liked them all. There were dog beds everywhere and I enjoyed everyone of them. I got to play fetch, gets lots of pets and snuggles and ate some good food. But now I'm at the rescue and I really don't like here. Sure, there are lots of nice people that take care of me and play with me but what I really want is a home to call my own with people who love me. I'm really just big, goofy guy.

Montana's old fractured leg was causing his some issues. From the time he was rescued and the whole week he was in foster he was using his bad leg. Since returning to the rescue however, he is no longer using it except for balance. We put him on pain meds and anti-inflammatory's, along with some laser therapy, in the hopes that he would regain some use. But in the end, after a final evaluation, the vet determined that his leg needed to be amputated. He had his surgery on 05/12/24 and is doing amazing! He is now an adorable tripod, adjusting very quickly to the change!

Before leaving Cortez Rescue, all dogs will be given a full medical assessment to insure optimum health, current on vaccinations, and desexed. Cortez dogs are not microchipped.
