Watch my video on how I interact with cats! (Disclaimer: As part of our dedication to the welfare of all animals under our care, we conduct basic cat testing for dogs brought into our rescue. However, it's essential to understand that while we strive to assess their compatibility with cats, we cannot guarantee their behavior in all situations.)
Foster Update: Onyx has fit in very well with my 2 adult dogs and a few other foster pups I have. She loves to play and wrestle with her friends. She's very excited when I return home. She likes to stay close to me and prefers to sleep in the bedroom with me. When she finishes her food, she respects the other dogs bowls. She likes her food very much and eats out of a slow feeder, but still manages to finish at the same time as the other dogs. She loves treats, Milkbones are her favorite. She knows how to sit and to wait for her food until released. Even though there are a lot of toys around, she likes sticks. She has good recall but leary when trying to leash her. Once on leash she is very good. When on off leash walks she likes to run with the other dogs, but usually stays close to the one closest to her age. She stays with the group and is never far away. She loves to ride in the car and if the door is open, will jump in right away. When we meet people on our walk, she initially barks, but then is very friendly. She does have some prey drive towards lizards and birds. She is a great girl and a pleasure to have. She'd make a great dog for anyone.
From Previous Foster: Onyx is doing great here! She is sweet and talkative in a humorous way. She looks for her toys or sticks in the yard to chew on. She LOVES to play fetch, and to be near us.
Before leaving Cortez Rescue, all dogs will be given a full medical assessment to ensure optimum health, current on vaccinations, and desexed. Cortez dogs are not microchipped.
