I'm not quite ready to go to my new home.

Petunia

I'm in the Recovery Room - I'll Be Available Soon

04/23/24 Weight: 34.2lbs.

Estimated DOB: 5/13/22

Introducing Petunia! This sweet mama was found in the Las Cuevas stream, very close to the bridge in poor condition. She was taken into foster care by a lovely couple that were caring for an abandoned litter of malnourished puppies (The Q litter, available soon through Cortez Rescue) Having clearly recently lost a litter of her own, Petunia adopted these puppies as her own. Petunia is very nurturing and loving. She gets along with other dogs, had zero reaction to our kitten even when he was playing around the puppies. She  walks great on a leash and loves to be snuggled and loved! She would be good as an only dog or would do great with a home full of animals! She loves to play but is also very mellow and loves to just hang out! She just wants to be loved and be near you! She will make a great companion and is anxiously awaiting her furever home! Apply to adopt Petunia today!

03/24 Now that Petunia is done nursing she has begun a 30 day treatment for Heartworm.

04/24 Foster Update:

Petunia is the sweetest dog. She is very shy but once she knows you she is a great friend. She is very good on the leash. She does not pull or lag behind. She is gentle and does not jump up on people. She is a bit afraid of other dogs so we give them a wide berth. I take her with me wherever I go. She has my heart ♥️ I just love her.

Before leaving Cortez Rescue, all dogs will be given a full medical assessment to insure optimum health, current on vaccinations, and desexed. Cortez dogs are not microchipped.
