Hi, I’m Rio — and I rescued myself.
I climbed over a fence and into my rescuers yard because I knew I was ready for a better life. Now I’m in a foster home, learning all the good stuff and getting ready for my forever family. I’m young, handsome, playful, and full of energy. I love playing ball, happily bringing it back to you for the next throw, and I’m a big fan of water — dipping my paws in or lounging on the pool steps is my kind of vibe. I’m super friendly and have a great personality (or so everyone keeps telling me!).I'm a fun, floppy pup happily rolling on the floor with my toys and chews. I really love my people and like to sit close and be near them. I’m getting good at leash skills and basic commands. I've had to scrap for food so my foster mom makes me use a slow feeder bowl but I'm getting better.
If you’re active, outdoorsy, and looking for a loyal buddy who’s already proven he's got heart — Rio might just be your guy... and just look at those ears :)

Health: Rio has been neutered, tested negative for corona, giardia, and tick fever and is working through his vaccinations.
Before leaving Cortez Rescue: All dogs will be given a full medical assessment to ensure optimum health, current on vaccinations, and spayed/neutered. All dogs are micro-chipped before leaving Mexico.
