I'm ready for my new family!

Meet Rusty. Rusty is such a sweet boy with a beautiful soul. Being at the shelter has been hard for Rusty. He needs to find his human so he can feel loved and safe and blossom into the truly amazing dog we all know he is. He is a nice medium size, has a short coat, and just look at those eyes :) He will just melt. your heart. Rusty has a fun personality and is just a sweet and happy dog. He loves his toys and stuffed animals and is a big fan of treats. He is house-trained, walks well on leash and has not shown much of a prey drive. Rusty may even get along with your calm cat! We think Rusty would make a great 2nd dog/family dog, such a good boy.

Foster Updates:

12/2024: Rusty is such a sweet boy! He’s great with cats, and he would do so well if there was another dog for him to play with. He loves to play with other dogs but our dogs are old and grouchy.
He’s good on his leash and harness. He’s healthy and has a great appetite! Rusty will make a great family pet, and is ready to go to his forever home!  

09/2024: Rusty has a lot of personality. He is super sweet and a happy dog. He has settled into our home very nicely and adapted to our routine. He likes to follows us around. He is great with people. He interacts well with our other 2 older dogs, and he gets along with our 2 cats. He loves stuffed animals and any kind of treats. He is potty trained, and doesn’t seem to have a big prey drive. When we first started fostering Rusty, he had a little separation anxiety, but now he does fine in the house when we leave.

Before leaving Cortez Rescue, all dogs will be given a full medical assessment to ensure optimum health, current on vaccinations, and spayed/neutered. All dogs are micro-chipped before leaving Mexico.
