11/24/24 Foster Update! Suerte is a great dog, very sweet, super kind and faithful. He is potty trained and can go 8 hours without going outside. He follows me everywhere like my little shadow. He LOVES playing with other dogs (a few photos of him with the neighbor dog). He knows how to walk on a leash. He is great with kids. He is wary of strangers but it doesn't take him long to warm up to them, and then he is a love. He does not get into trouble when left alone. Suerte still favors his leg with the broken hip but he does use it and it will probably get stronger with time.
Suerte was found in the median on the highway after being hit by a car. A Cortez Volunteer got him to the vet and he immediately received surgery to amputate his tail as it was terribly mangled. He also received surgery for a broken hip.
Before leaving Cortez Rescue, all dogs will be given a full medical assessment to ensure optimum health, current on vaccinations, and desexed. All dogs are microchipped before leaving Mexico.
