Introducing our lively and playful Westi! A female mix breed with an abundance of energy and adventurous spirit. She will make the perfect playmate for active families. She is good with kids and dogs (cats not so much). Her loving personality will make her be a great addition to any home, and Westi will make an amazing family companion.
Foster Update 07/11/24: Westi is the BEST dog!! She happily hangs around the house, barking at all the cows walking on the beach, making sure they know that they aren't allowed on our property. She plays well with other dogs.
Foster Update 05/29/24: Westi is a smart, playful, and loving girl. She is house trained and a quick learner when it comes to commands. She adores car rides and is equally content whether in or out of her crate. Just a heads up, her prey drive means she'd do best in a home without cats or small animals. With her charming personality, Westi would make an amazing addition to a any family!
Foster Update 03/15/24: Westi came to Cortez as a puppy. She is house trained, walks well on leash and tends to only bark when the other dogs do. She is a little excitable so we are working on jumping up when greeting people and basic manners, and she is making great progress. Westi is great with other dogs big and small and is also very gentle with children. She was not too fond of the car until she figured out it meant a long run on the beach! Westi is built for speed and loves to run! She isn't much of a swimmer but doesn't seem to mind the water. She does have a bit of a prey drive and will chase anything that moves fast, rabbits being her favorite. She does come back when I whistle and we continue to work on her recall skills.
Westi is part of a litter of 10, and was found at a garbage dump.
Before leaving Cortez Rescue, all dogs will be given a full medical assessment to ensure optimum health, current on vaccinations, and spayed/neutered. All dogs are microchipped before leaving Mexico.
