Join the Cortez Rescue Volunteer Meet & Greet to discover how you can help dogs in the East Cape. This annual event is a welcoming opportunity for anyone who wants to make a difference. Whether you have a few hours a week or more time to give, we will help you find a way to contribute.

At the volunteer meet & greet, you can connect with current volunteers and hear their inspiring stories. They will explain how they contribute to our mission. You can also learn about ways to get involved — from walking dogs to fostering, fundraising, or offering professional skills. Every action matters in our rescue work.
Next, Discover the Mission Behind Cortez Rescue
Cortez Rescue & Outreach actively rescues abandoned and neglected dogs across the East Cape area. We provide food, medical care, and shelter at our rescue until pups can move into foster or find loving forever homes. In addition, we run spay and neuter programs and community outreach. Volunteers are essential to our mission and our success.
Finally, Why You Should Attend
This event offers light refreshments and a chance to ask questions and just hang out to get a feel for what we are about. You will meet our team and see how your help can make a real impact. Many of our volunteers started by attending this event and became an important part of our rescue work.

Next, take a short five-minute walk to Mini-Cortez Pup-Ups on Don Pepe from 10 AM to 12:00 PM. As a result, you’ll enjoy a morning full of shopping, puppy love, and community connection.
The Saturday Market is always buzzing. You’ll find fresh fruit, local produce, and handmade goods. In addition, you can grab delicious food while browsing artisan stalls.
Also, make sure to stop by the Cortez Rescue Saturday Market booth. Here, you can pick up swag like shirts and hats, stickers,and other fun Cortez items.
This season, we also have beautiful greeting cards by Joyce Findlay. The Painted Canvas has graciously given us permission to print her artwork to help raise money for Cortez Rescue and Outreach. Card themes this season are Christmas, Baja and Animals. Joyce’s cards are amazing. All are blank inside and a select few are birthday cards. In addition we will have sun glass cases, dog pooh bag holders and playing card holders made by another great supporter Terri Henderson. Every item sold supports food, medical care, and shelter for our pups. Because of your purchases, more dogs can find forever homes.

This Tuesday Dec 2, we invite you to stand with Cortez Rescue & Outreach and make a difference in the lives of Baja’s most vulnerable dogs. For many, life on the streets means hunger, neglect, and danger. With your help, we can give them the safety, love, and second chance they deserve.
Cortez Rescue is a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming abandoned and unwanted dogs throughout Baja California Sur. Every pup we take in receives food, medical care, and the compassion they may never have known before. Then, through dedicated foster families and adoption networks, they begin a journey toward a forever home.
But rescue is just one part of the story. Our team is committed to long-term solutions through spay and neuter programs, community education, and partnerships with local families. By addressing the root causes of overpopulation, we’re building a future where fewer dogs suffer and more thrive.

Looking for something fun to do this weekend? First, head to the Los Barriles Saturday Market at Laguna Park from 9 AM to 12 PM. Next, take a short five-minute walk to Mini-Cortez Pup-Ups on Don Pepe from 10 AM to 12:00 PM. As a result, you’ll enjoy a morning full of shopping, puppy love, and community connection.
The Saturday Market is always buzzing. You’ll find fresh fruit, local produce, and handmade goods. In addition, you can grab delicious food while browsing artisan stalls.
Also, make sure to stop by the Cortez Rescue Saturday Market booth. Here, you can pick up swag like shirts and hats, stickers,and other fun Cortez items.
This season, we also have beautiful greeting cards by Joyce Findlay. The Painted Canvas has graciously given us permission to print her artwork to help raise money for Cortez Rescue and Outreach. Card themes this season are Christmas, Baja and Animals. Joyce’s cards are amazing. All are blank inside and a select few are birthday cards. In addition we will have sun glass cases, dog pooh bag holders and playing card holders made by another great supporter Terri Henderson. Every item sold supports food, medical care, and shelter for our pups. Because of your purchases, more dogs can find forever homes.

We’re opening the doors to our main rescue facility in Las Cuevas (a short 15 minutes from Los Barriles) on December 28 from 12 PM to 2 PM, and everyone is invited. See where the magic happens, meet the team, and learn more about the important work Cortez Rescue & Outreach does in Baja California Sur.
During the open house, you’ll get a behind-the-scenes look at our rescue facility. Meet the puppies and adult dogs currently in our care, tour the grounds, and discover how we provide food, medical treatment, and love to dogs in need. We’ve made lots of improvements to our kennels and now have a 2nd small air-conditioned casita for “puppy snuggles!” Our dedicated volunteers will be there to answer questions and share stories about the rescue journey.
We’ll be serving refreshments and hot dogs, so bring your family, neighbors, and friends. The open house is casual, welcoming, and a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon. If you’re coming from Los Barriles, it’s just a short 15-minute drive to Las Cuevas. Grab your friends and carpool out. We promise it’s worth the trip!
